Software Engineering Manager, Google Compute Engine

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in Kernel development, and architecting and developing distributed systems design.

Nice to haves

• 5 years of experience in managing internal infrastructure, developer tools, or distributed computing infrastructure.
• Experience in working on customer-facing products/APIs.
• Proven skills in managing teams working on highly distributed and reliable systems.

What you'll be doing

• Manage a team focused around a defined product area within Google Compute Engine.
• Build, grow, and retain top talent and continually find ways to inspire and challenge the engineering organization.
• Work with team members on their career and general performance.
• Set direction and priorities for the product area, in cooperation with the team.
• Build cross-functional partnerships, and work closely with developers and product managers to identify productivity, production quality, and coverage issues, and provide insight on improving both through scale and tooling.
