Chief Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in vendor management
• Experience in a data center or other critical environment
• Experience in data center engineering or operations
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Nice to Haves

• Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
• Operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent
• Experience in construction or project management

What You'll Be Doing

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center
• Operating independently with limited direct management
• Acting as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center, escalating to the Data Center Facility Manager as needed
• Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures
• Troubleshooting and reporting facility and data server-level events within internal SLA
• Creating and deploying new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams
• Providing training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
• Ensuring all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
• Utilizing internal CMMS to manage building workflows
• Communicating complex technical information to a non-technical audience
