Software Engineer – IDE Integrations (VS Code & Cursor)

Requirements:

• Experienced in creating developer tools or IDE extensions.
• A rapid experimenter who can iterate quickly on product ideas.
• Passionate about AI-assisted development and improving developer workflows.
• Pragmatic and focused on simplicity, performance, and usability.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, ideally Typescript + (e.g., Python, Go, Rust).

Nice to Haves:

• Experience building VS Code extensions, Language Servers (LSP), or similar developer integrations.
• Comfortable working in distributed teams.
• Skilled at writing testable, maintainable code and ensuring smooth CI/CD integration.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Design and implement developer tools that surface Datadog observability data within VS Code and Cursor.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams across Datadog, working on products such as Logs, Error Tracking, Dynamic Instrumentation, and the Datadog MCP Server.
• Own a key piece of a high-visibility, user-facing product that directly impacts developer experience.
