Staff Backend Engineer, Software Supply Chain Security: Secrets Management

Requirements

• Experience designing and operating secrets management systems (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, OpenBao, cloud-native offerings)
• Ability to lead architecture decisions for resilient, multi-tenant services
• Working knowledge of cryptographic and key management concepts
• Experience implementing authentication and authorization integrations
• Proficiency building product integrations in Go and Ruby on Rails

What you'll be doing

• Lead the technical strategy for GitLab Secrets Manager
• Own the integration between GitLab and OpenBao
• Collaborate with Pipeline Security, Authentication, and Platform teams
• Partner with GitLab.com Infrastructure teams
• Represent GitLab in the OpenBao open source project
• Mentor and advise engineers on secrets management
• Interface with engineering managers and senior leadership
• Engage with customers and external stakeholders
