Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience in optical transmissions systems Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or LAN/Wireless Protocols or TCP/IP.
Experience with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment (e.g., Installation, commissioning and network troubleshooting).
Nice to haves:
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines; Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
Experience in telecommunications at scale, along with a working knowledge of large network infrastructure, optical transport systems, routers, third-party leased network assets, and installation vendors, is essential.
What you'll be doing:
Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale.
Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide.
Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low.
Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans.
