Staff Software Engineer, Gemini Code Assist

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.

Nice to haves:

• 5 years of experience in one or more of the following coding languages: Go, Java, Python.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, including setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and driving project execution.
• 3 years of experience with software development in training, developing, or applying machine learning models.
• Experience with building Integrated Development Environment (IDEs) or Enterprise Software.

What you'll be doing:

• Contribute to definition and drive the implementation of technical goals, strategy, and architecture for GenAI-powered developer tools, ensuring alignment with the mission to enhance developer productivity.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, site reliability engineers (SREs), and engineers across Google Cloud AI to translate product and non-functional requirements into tangible product features.
• Participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies and approaches.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers in designing, developing, and maintaining robust server-side systems within Gemini Code Assist scope.
