Staff Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering, Core Network

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• 3 years of experience leading projects.

Nice to Haves

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
• Experience in problem-solving and analyzing global scale distributed systems.
• Experience in Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance, and application issues.
• Experience in network protocols and networking architectures.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and safely introduce new products and features to data centers and WAN networks. Consult and contribute to enhancements in Google's Software Defined Networking (SDN) stack.
• Drive efforts to improve Mean Time To Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time To Mitigation (MTTM) for incidents.
• Protect machine learning network reliability by improving machine learning network observability tooling and providing emergency response for the machine learning network related incidents.
• Drive standardization in network management tools, workflows, and processes to minimize human involvement and simplify emergency response.
• Respond to network outages or user-impacting events and non-emergency escalations and Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) requests.
