Network Operations Engineer

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with networking protocols and troubleshooting.
• Experience in optical or IP network operations.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Unix/Linux administration.
• Experience working in large-scale, complex network environments.
• Experience in scripting or coding for automation (e.g., Python, Go).
• Experience with network monitoring, alarming, and ticketing systems.
• Ability to thrive in a high-velocity, 24/7 operational environment.
• Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to troubleshooting.

What you'll be doing:

• Operate Google's network reliably and at scale, and act as a first responder for faults and outages on Google's production network.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues across optical transport and IP networking domains to restore service and maintain network health.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
• Own network documentation, and update and maintain network designs and plans.
