Software Engineer 5 - Foundational Infrastructure

Requirements

• You should be able to understand and empathize with the customer development and operating experience.
• You should be able to read existing library and collector code bases.
• Expertise building consistent and reliable client libraries and agents.
• Knowledge of the Go, C++, Java, and the ecosystem.
• Experience with instrumenting the collection of metrics, tracing, and logs in applications.
• Strong Cloud/DevOps skills.

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge of languages such as Node.js or Python.
• eBPF knowledge and experience building eBPF programs.
• A positive attitude and the ability to empathize with the customer experience.

What You'll Be Doing

• You will design the user experience for telemetry collection at Netflix.
• You will collaborate with users and developers of core telemetry libraries and collectors.
• You will maintain highly performant collectors across the Netflix fleet.
• You will prototype new open-source telemetry libraries.
• You will provide documentation and training materials for the library and collector ecosystem.
