Software Engineer - Infrastructure, Quora (Remote)

Requirements:

• Members of Infrastructure Engineering team should be available Mon-Fri from 3pm-9pm PST
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years working on large-scale distributed systems
• Familiarity with data storage, traffic handling, or infrastructure orchestration
• Proficiency in a programming language (e.g. Python, C++)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to independently debug production issues

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with AWS services or other public cloud services
• Operational experience in database and NoSQL systems
• Experience with Linux operating system internals and networking
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. shell script)
• Experience with capacity planning for web scale systems
• Passion for Quora's mission and goals

What You'll Be Doing:

• Own backend databases and services
• Improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency of infrastructure systems
• Write and review code, plan upgrades, develop documentation, and debug issues
• Build monitoring tools and automation
• Participate in on-call rotation
