Senior Platform Engineer

Requirements

• Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested solutions
• Have a strong grounding in a specific technical area in the platform space (eg. Containers, Kafka, Networking)
• Extensive experience with infrastructure tooling, ideally Terraform
• A strong background in software engineering, preferably with Go and/or Python
• Proven ability to define and run projects from inception to delivery
• Proven system design experience
• Improving leadership skills, including coaching, team-building and generally supporting peers and colleagues
• Extensive experience with AWS cloud computing
• (Optionally) Proven ability to coordinate technical projects across multiple teams
• (Optionally) Experience with datastores, ideally PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and/or Redis
• (Optionally) Experience of working closely and building relationships with customer engineering groups

What You'll Be Doing

• You will have a deep understanding of multiple services and their intersection with other parts of the business. Highly proficient in all tools, languages and external services relevant to their work
• The role will see you writing and reviewing technical designs on behalf of their team and delivering code of any size or scope required for the success of the team
• Your work will also see you lead on team project planning, foreseeing dependencies and risks, and setting a sustainable and incremental team pace
• You will lead the work of other engineers within the team and drive the success of the team. This will include influencing the roadmap and direction of the team
• The role also requires you to build cross-team relationships with adjacent teams (when relevant) to solve problems and deliver projects
• Lead engineering interviews to help guide the understanding of the Deliveroo bar for all lower levels which often requires contribution in other recruiting areas outside of interviewing
