Principal Engineer

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 15+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science plus 10+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
• Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms.
• Experience in architecting, designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software systems, storage, and database.
• Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Distributed Programming, and: C, C++ or Rust.
• Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews.
• Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

• You will be building and managing massively scalable database and storage systems for eBay.
• As a self-motivated and enthusiastic technical leader of our team, you will collaborate with extremely smart and proficient peers leading and designing data infrastructure using your strong background in distributed systems, storage and large scale database systems.
• You will collaborate closely with peers Architects, Engineering leaders and Product Managers to develop innovative solutions that meet functional and non-functional standards and expectations.
• As a senior technical leader, you will guide junior and senior engineers in your team and also across other cloud teams in building scalable, high speed, distributed systems and advocate for meeting the design and quality standards.
• You will contribute to the design, development, testing, release, triage, bug fix, documentation, and rest of the cycles in product development and maintenance.
• As a key influencer of the organization, you should bring in new ideas to adapt to technological developments and industry best practices that will create lasting impact for eBay and its customers.
