Requirements

Strong backend engineering experience, ideally in Python or similar languages (e.g., Java, C++).
Proficiency in working with SQL and NoSQL databases, and experience with distributed data stores like Cassandra.
Experience with real-time data streaming technologies such as Kafka and Flink.
Familiarity with large-scale data processing frameworks like Spark.
Solid understanding of API design, service-oriented architecture, and production system reliability.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work closely with ML engineers and cross-functional partners.
Curiosity and initiative to explore new technologies and drive impactful solutions.

What you'll be doing

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and data pipelines that support ML-powered features across Yelp's consumer app.
Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate LLM-based models and content embeddings into production services.
Work with large-scale distributed systems and databases (e.g., Cassandra, SQL/NoSQL) to manage and serve structured and unstructured data.
Develop and maintain APIs and services that power features like Review Insights, Business Summaries, and Conversational Search.
Build real-time and batch data processing pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Flink, and Spark.
Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of backend systems in a production environment.
Contribute to the team's engineering best practices and mentor junior engineers
