Cloud Backend Engineer - Adobe Cloud Platform

Requirements

• Several years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning non-trivial systems in production

• Curiosity: you dig into unfamiliar systems and keep asking why until you hit the root cause

• Team player, comfortable giving and taking direct feedback

• Strong programming skills, ideally Java

• Clear, direct communication in German and English

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and a major cloud platform (AWS preferred)

• Hands-on experience with Spring, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB, and message queues

• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus

• Experimenting with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code)

What You'll Be Doing

• Solve concrete engineering problems around latency, throughput, consistency, data durability, and storage cost

• Own parts of the system end-to-end, from design through production rollout

• Shape the team's technical direction through design reviews, prototypes, and honest debate

• Use modern development practices and AI-assisted tooling to keep the iteration loop tight and the quality bar high

• Participate in incident response and drive the follow-up fixes

• Collaborate with partner teams across Hamburg, the US, and India
