You have 5+ years of experience building systems-level applications and tooling, with a strong understanding of OS internals, system architecture, and runtime behavior.
You have a proven track record of shipping software on macOS at scale.
You have hands-on experience with native macOS APIs and system-level capabilities, and have designed systems that comply with Apple’s platform requirements.
You have experience working with system-level macOS services and components, such as launchd-managed services (LaunchDaemons or LaunchAgents), inter-process communication, and macOS privacy and permission models (TCC).
You are proficient in C/C++, Objective-C, and/or Swift, and have experience with macOS build and packaging toolchains (notarization, pkg, etc.).
You have proven ability to own and deliver features in a fast-paced, high-growth environment to build new products.
You are motivated by solving problems for the customer persona, specifically the IT Ops and Help Desk teams who rely on your data to keep businesses running.
What You'll Do:
Design, implement, and share ownership of macOS Agent-based integrations to collect data for system, network, and security monitoring
Leverage macOS native system technologies to design and build comprehensive observability features integrated with the macOS platform; with flexibility to evaluate and adopt the most appropriate frameworks and system capabilities.
Lead new feature development end-to-end, from ideation and researching Apple framework changes to implementation and deployment across diverse enterprise fleets.
Solve unique challenges at the intersection of system programming, distributed telemetry, and endpoint observability & security
Investigate bottlenecks and write optimized, resource-efficient software to ensure deep visibility without impacting battery life or user productivity.
Influence or drive product decisions, plan upcoming high-impact projects, and mentor other engineers across macOS initiatives.
Nice to Haves:
Experience with Golang (the primary language of the Datadog Agent).
Experience developing cross-platform software, including exposure to the Windows SDK.
Experience working on agent-based observability or monitoring software, particularly long-running background agents that collect system, process, or network telemetry.
