Principal Applied Researcher

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, or related field preferred
• Master's degree with significant applied research experience may be considered
• Strong expertise in modern AI systems
• Experience designing and deploying large-scale machine learning systems
• Strong programming skills in Python and distributed computing environments
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI architectures
• Proven ability to lead applied research initiatives
• Track record of delivering machine learning innovations
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills

What you'll be doing

• Define and drive research initiatives in agentic AI systems
• Lead the development of next-generation AI systems
• Develop methods to make agentic systems reliable and measurable
• Design and advance evaluation methodologies
• Translate research insights into production systems
• Mentor researchers and engineers
• Represent eBay’s AI research efforts through publications and engagement
