Senior Software Engineer - Search Relevance in ES|QL - Elasticsearch

Requirements

• Professional experience with search or vector databases, and experience with relevant algorithms and libraries on search platforms at scale
• Solid skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures, concurrency constructs, and advanced features like lambdas
• Ability to work autonomously and guide projects from beginning to end, including technical design and collaboration with other engineers
• Comfortable with collaborative development, giving and receiving feedback, and experience with multiple data storage technologies
• Proven track record of using AI to debug complex systems, optimize code, and drive final outcomes

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Elasticsearch and open source projects, and familiarity with source control workflows and continuous integration
• Familiarity with various data storage technologies and designing, leading, and owning cross-functional initiatives

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to deliver industry-leading search engine offerings
• Contribute full time to Elasticsearch by building new search features, fixing bugs, and enhancing code readability
• Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers focused on vector search capabilities
• Be an expert on Elasticsearch search relevance and drive improvements in this area
• Collaborate with community members worldwide on issues and pull requests
• Write idiomatic modern Java, given Elasticsearch is predominantly Java-based
