Principal Software Engineer - Search Algorithms - Elasticsearch

Requirements

• Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases, and used relevant algorithms and libraries on search platforms at scale
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures, concurrency constructs, and lambdas
• High level of autonomy to guide projects from start to finish
• Experience collaborating on code and projects, especially over the internet
• Knowledge of various data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code
• Ability to collaborate across functions and teams seamlessly
• Autonomous decision-making in distributed teams with effective communication

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Elasticsearch development
• Familiarity with open source projects and different source control workflows
• Experience with various data storage technologies
• Designing, leading, and owning cross-functional initiatives

• Leading initiatives to enhance vector database offerings in Elasticsearch for speed and relevance in search
• Contributing to Elasticsearch by building new search features, fixing bugs, and improving code readability
• Collaborating with a global team of experienced engineers on Elasticsearch vector search capabilities
• Becoming an expert in Elasticsearch vector similarity for search relevance improvements
• Engaging with the worldwide community on issues and pull requests, while writing idiomatic modern Java
