Staff Technical Lead Health Features, Backend, Data Infrastructure

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data infrastructure or backend systems.
• 5 years of experience managing a team of software engineers and guiding system architecture and design.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale, distributed backend systems.

Nice to haves:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience with large-scale cluster management and container orchestration, particularly Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with data privacy and security principles, and with standards like HIPAA.
• Familiarity with wearables/IoT devices, their technical capabilities and limitations.
• Familiarity with database technologies and principles (e.g., Spanner, BigQuery, SQL/NoSQL), and with data processing frameworks (e.g., Flume, Beam, Spark).

What you'll be doing:

• Lead and mentor a talented team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and impact.
• Define and drive the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for Google Health's feature and data ingestion.
• Ensure the systems meet stringent requirements for security, privacy, compliance (e.g., HIPAA), scalability, and reliability.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle of the team's services.
• Comply with all company health and safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
