Senior Backend Engineer - Databases Pyroscope | Ireland | Remote

Requirements

• Solid experience with a systems language: Go, Rust, C, C++, Python, Java, etc.
• Distributed systems in production: building and operating cloud services
• Product sense: comfortable engaging with customers, breaking down problems
• Curiosity and courage: willing to challenge the status quo
• Strong software craftsmanship: writing clean, performant code
• Operational mindset: reliability as a feature, infrastructure as code experience
• Pragmatism: breaking complex problems into manageable deliverables
• Clear communication: working effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous setup

Nice to Haves

• Experience with profiling and performance engineering tools
• Experience with OpenTelemetry or large-scale observability systems
• Experience operating multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure on Kubernetes
• Experience building for AI/LLM consumers
• Open-source contribution or maintainership experience
• Experience as an on-call user in a previous role
• Experience in a fully remote, globally distributed team

What You'll Be Doing

• Own meaningful projects end to end on Pyroscope
• Lead projects from concept to rollout, design to customer follow-up
• Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database
• Wear the product hat: directly shape the roadmap
• Drive operational excellence, reduce toil through automation
• Support teammates through design conversations and code review
• Participate in on-call for the services you build
• Contribute to open source: engage the community, review contributions
