Principal Engineer, Fin AI Agent

Requirements

• The core requirement: engineering depth and product thinking. Must combine deep engineering ability with strong product and design instincts.
• Operated at real scale and has builder energy. Experience at companies operating at significant scale with startup DNA.
• AI fluency. Actively experimenting with AI-assisted development and forming opinions on its impact.
• Deep technical depth with breadth. Ability to go deep into technical domains and navigate complex multi-team systems.
• Communication as a superpower. Strong communication skills across all levels.
• Extreme autonomy. Ability to identify problems, form convictions, and act independently.
• Critical thinking about the business. Understand what the company is optimizing for and make strategic technical decisions accordingly.
• At least ~10+ years of experience as a technical leader driving complex projects.
• Stack agnostic. Ability to learn, build, and operate effectively with various tools and technologies.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, and AWS.

What You'll Be Doing

• Partner at the strategic pillar level. Provide broad context across work streams to inform technical strategy and investment priorities.
• Spin up 0-to-1 work streams. Build teams, disambiguate problem spaces, and drive execution under aggressive timelines.
• Execute on the most ambiguous, highest-stakes problems. Hands-on involvement in writing code, shipping features, and being deeply involved in execution.
• Lead experimental work at the AI frontier. Run A/B tests, do prompt engineering, and calibrate accuracy for new features.
• Shape long-term technical strategy through execution. Inform architecture decisions while building and thinking about product development.
• Work across the full stack in an AI-first development environment. Collaborate in an AI-assisted development setup to push boundaries.
• Raise the bar for the people around you. Provide actionable feedback to accelerate growth of senior and staff engineers.
