Bioinformatics Engineer, London

Requirements

• Proven experience with the large-scale processing of raw bioinformatics data (e.g., FASTQ, BAM, mzXML).
• A demonstrable track record of delivering high-quality bioinformatics outputs across varied modalities.
• Experience delivering bioinformatics solutions directly to research teams or industry projects.
• Experience writing production-grade code in Python and developing automated bioinformatics pipelines.
• PhD or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience with domain-specific workflow systems (e.g., Nextflow) for scaling high-throughput pipeline execution.
• Familiarity with data orchestration and processing frameworks (e.g., Dagster, Apache Beam).
• Experience with bioinformatics infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of DataFrame libraries (e.g., Polars) and relational data modeling and analysis (SQL).
• Exposure to machine learning concepts and data requirements for training ML models.
• Experience working with regulated PHI data.
• Extensive experience in software development with Python.

• Developing and operating large-scale bioinformatics pipelines.
• Applying bioinformatics best practices to ingest and harmonize complex datasets.
• Harmonizing public databases and implementing versioning and mapping strategies.
• Partnering with research teams to drive adoption of bioinformatics platforms.
• Participating in research projects as a "Deployed Engineer" and providing documentation and training.
