Engineering Lead - Embedded Finance

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on experience of Java (or similar stacks).
• Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Product mindset — you think about customer impact, not just technical implementation.
• Strong experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
• Following and advocating best coding practices, continuous delivery and code reviews.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and stakeholders.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with embedded finance platforms.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages beyond Java.
• Experience with cloud technologies.

What You'll Be Doing

• This is a hands-on role so you will be designing, developing, and maintaining the team’s services.
• Mentoring and supporting engineers in the team in their growth and development.
• Support the team in technical decisions to make sure we build a high-quality product that is reliable and scalable.
• Working closely with a Product Manager to own and drive the team’s direction and product plans.
• Collaborate with teams across Wise to deliver real impact and expand the functionality we can offer to our partners on our platform.
• Ownership of the team’s services and product. Pushing best practices and high-quality products.
