Software Development Engineer, AWS Database Migration Service

Job Requirements

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
• Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Experience in professional, non-internship software development
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Experience in development in the last 3 years

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and implement scalable, serverless microservices that power the migration lifecycle - assessment, schema conversion, data movement
• Develop intelligent, agent-driven migration workflows that integrate with modern developer tools and leverage natural language interfaces
• Own the end-to-end migration lifecycle - from pre-migration assessment and schema conversion through data movement phases
• Solve hard distributed systems challenges around reliability, security, and performance for customers migrating their most critical production workloads
• Work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and AI/ML to deliver a seamless, low-friction migration experience that removes traditional barriers to database modernization
• Mentor SDE Is through code reviews, design guidance, and pair programming
• Participate in on-call rotations and operational excellence initiatives
