Software Development Engineer, AWS Database Migration Service

Requirements

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice to Haves

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and implement scalable, serverless microservices that power the migration lifecycle - assessment, schema conversion, data movement;
• Build agentic workflows that integrate with developer tools (Kiro, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and enable natural language-driven database migrations;
• Own operational excellence for your components: define SLAs, build dashboards, create runbooks, and drive root-cause analysis during incidents;
• Contribute to system architecture decisions, write design documents, and participate in code reviews that raise the quality bar for the team;
• Collaborate cross-functionally with solution architects, product managers, and partner teams (RDS, Aurora, AI/ML) to deliver customer-facing features;
• Mentor SDE Is through code reviews, design guidance, and pair programming;
• Participate in on-call rotations and operational excellence initiatives.
