Software Development Engineer, RDS SQL Server

Requirements

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Nice to Haves

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience in debugging, profiling, and implementing software engineering best practices in large-scale systems

What You'll Be Doing

• Independently own the full lifecycle of features — from gathering requirements and writing design documents through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support — delivering end-to-end with minimal guidance from your manager
• Write efficient, maintainable, and production-ready code that meets the team's high bar for reliability and scale
• Break down ambiguous, loosely-defined problems into clear actionable plans
• Mentor and grow junior engineers through thoughtful code reviews and design guidance
• Work backwards from customer needs to identify, prioritize, and ship improvements
