Staff AI Engineer - MCP Services

Requirements:

• Experienced Staff-level engineer with a background in applied AI, agentic programming, or related areas
• Comfortable in high ambiguity and fast-changing environments
• Skilled in building evaluation frameworks for LLM agents or AI systems
• Strong systems thinking and passionate about agent-augmented software

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead efforts to improve Datadog’s public-facing MCP server for agents to interact with services
• Design and implement agentic tool surfaces for evaluation across various AI agents
• Build and maintain evaluation pipelines for agent performance on Datadog workflows
• Collaborate with teams to align on standards for tool integration

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with LLM-powered automation pipelines and orchestration frameworks
• Previous work with the MCP standard and agent-compatible tooling surfaces
• Ability to reason across multiple agents, tools, and user scenarios
