Principal Software Engineer - Search Algorithms - Elasticsearch

Requirements

• Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases, using relevant algorithms on search platforms at scale
• Strong skills in core Java, data structures, concurrency constructs, and lambdas
• Ability to work autonomously and guide projects from start to finish
• Experience with collaborative development and communication
• Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra

Nice to Haves

• Experience building things with Elasticsearch
• Worked with open-source projects and familiar with different styles of source control workflow and continuous integration
• Experience designing, leading, and owning cross-functional initiatives

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading initiatives within Elasticsearch to enhance vector search functionalities
• Contributing to Elasticsearch by building new search features and resolving bugs
• Working with a globally distributed team of engineers on vector search capabilities
• Being the expert on Elasticsearch's vector similarity implementation
• Collaborating with community members worldwide on issues and pull requests
• Writing idiomatic modern Java for Elasticsearch
