Staff Software Engineer

Requirements

• Are tenured backend engineers with experience operating at staff-level scope
• Have strong knowledge of data governance concepts and practices
• Are comfortable designing and operating distributed systems
• Have strong experience with at least one JVM language (ideally Java) and relational databases
• Care deeply about reliability, observability, and operational excellence
• Communicate clearly with engineers and non-engineers
• Value mentorship, feedback, and inclusion

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead design and implementation of services for data protection
• Design and evolve distributed systems to detect PII usage
• Own reliability and on-call for the services
• Collaborate with Privacy, Legal, and Security teams
• Drive technical roadmaps for data management
• Mentor engineers across the group

Nice to Have

• Experience in security, compliance, risk, or privacy domains
• Background building data or reporting platforms
• Experience with Kafka, event-driven architectures
• Prior work with auditors, risk, or GRC teams
