EMEA Lease Senior Mechanical Engineer

Requirements

• Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field related technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND related technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.

• Registered Professional/Chartered Engineer in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience as a lead engineer with design, construction, operation or maintenance of large scale and complex mechanical engineering systems (Data Centres, Pharma, Micro Electronics are three examples of relevant industries).
• Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and maintain high quality standards.
• Detailed understanding of Datacenter mechanical design including but not limited to, HVAC, cooling systems, fire protection, fuel systems, plumbing systems, liquid cooling, BAS/BMS systems.

What You'll Be Doing

• Collaborate with the Global Strategy team and Mechanical Team to understand and develop the data center (DC) mechanical design requirements.
• Lead and guide vendor subject matter experts in reviewing and coordinating mechanical reviews, as well as keeping the team up to date on latest GDCE mechanical updates to requirements.
• Lead mechanical workgroups with Lease providers and key stakeholders within Microsoft.
• Specification and design requirement development, reviewing the sequence of operation for the mechanical systems and overall drawings and specifications for Lease Provider mechanical topology.
• Assist Operations teams with solutioning and work with Operations and equipment vendors for implementation.
• Assist in commissioning, validating performance, quality, and reliability.
• Work closely with the lease program managers on the team to provide project status updates, address and resolve issues raised by construction teams and partner stakeholders.
• Collaborate extensively with the global technical excellence teams, local engineering teams to provide the necessary mechanical solutions and or mitigations for each project as required.
• Be highly organized and able to oversee concurrent projects and focus under pressure.
• Structured thinking and logic with very strong analytical skills.
• Accountable for developing and seeking efficiencies in our processes, creating and developing tooling through the use of AI tools or otherwise to increase efficiency.
• Accountable as part of the team to ensure OKR’s are met and have a passion and drive for the best outcome for the team and Microsoft.
• Assist the EMEA Engineering team with data driven information for performance management of the Mechanical team and also external Lease Providers.
• Ability to identify the most significant project risks at the outset of a project, and develop plans to address those risks. Incorporate learnings back into the team from previous projects and have a learning & developing mindset.
