Backend Engineer - NorthAm Risk

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with Java, Kotlin, or other JVM-based languages, with deep knowledge of the Spring framework.
• Obsession with Latency: Ability to design technical solutions optimizing for throughput and speed while maintaining p99 end-to-end latency under 1 second.
• Data & Distributed Systems: Understanding of JDBC, database internals, query optimization, and experience with Kafka, Kafka Streams, or Apache Flink.
• Infrastructure: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and designing scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Product & User Focus: Prioritizing work with the customer in mind, using data to enhance user experience.
• Ownership: Taking end-to-end ownership of projects from ideation to production monitoring.
• Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Cross-Functional collaboration experience: Comfortable working with Data Scientists and Data Analysts.

Nice to haves

• ML Fluency: Familiarity with machine learning basics.
• Data Lake Experience: Experience with OLAP databases or data lakes with Kafka ingestion.
