Sr Cloud Economics Engineer I

Requirements

• Deep experience with cloud providers e.g. AWS, GCP
• Strong experience working with microservices in a Kubernetes, cloud-based architecture.
• Data proficiency, cloud economics is based on utilizing vast amounts of data to drive technical changes
• Hands-on Software Engineering experience e.g. Python, Go, or Java
• Familiar with an infrastructure as code approach e.g. Terraform
• Experience with Cost Optimization tools e.g. Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, CloudZero
• Stakeholder Management, the ability to translate complex cost data into actionable technical recommendations for product engineering teams
• Business Acumen, understanding the trade-offs between cost, performance, and engineering velocity
• Strong prioritization skills and effective time management

What You'll Be Doing

• Identify opportunities to optimize the efficiency of our cloud estate such as advanced scaling methods, updating instance types and proposing architecture changes
• Partner with our cloud providers, ensure best practices are being adopted at Wise and keep up to date with recent developments
• Deep-dive with teams into their services and implement changes to improve efficiency
• Implementing automation where possible, we need to embed efficiency into all product services
