What You'll Do

Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and tie it together with critical, business-impacting projects.
Shape the evolution of the Recoveries platform through cross-team technical initiatives to optimize recovery strategies and enhance customer-facing experiences.
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability and manage risks and trade-offs.
Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating technical solutions and operational processes.
Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing, and alerting to support on-call efforts.
Foster a culture of quality and ownership through code review and design standards, and advocate beyond the team via writing and tech talks.
Develop talent by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Participate in the on-call rotation as a role requirement.

Requirements

8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Proficiency in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Experience designing and operating correctness-sensitive batch, asynchronous, or data-processing systems, including workflows, backfills, reconciliation, observability, and failure handling.
Ability to architect solutions across complex systems and organizational boundaries, managing end-to-end outcomes.
Experience delivering major features or system components and deprecating existing functionality with technical and execution plans.
Comfortable with ambiguity and understanding systems from low-level language idioms to large-scale architecture.
Strong growth and impact demonstrated through iterative feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
