What you'll be doing

Own and evolve asynchronous data services supporting data synchronization across Box’s systems and data stores
Take ownership of existing services to improve reliability, scalability, observability, and architecture
Design and implement new services and improvements for growing data volumes and platform requirements
Ensure data consistency and reliability across different data stores and downstream systems
Identify opportunities to simplify and consolidate existing services to improve the data platform
Collaborate with engineers and teams across Core Data and Box to understand data requirements and challenges
Participate in operation and continuous improvement of production services, troubleshooting reliability and performance issues
Contribute to the technical direction of the Data Foundations platform as team ownership evolves
Participate in on-call rotation to respond and triage issues as they arise

Requirements

Familiarity with Scala/Java, MySQL, Pub/Sub, BigQuery
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
3+ years of professional software development experience
Strong understanding of common algorithms, data structures, and code design principles
Strong grasp of high-scale distributed systems
Passion for database scale and performance challenges
Strong sense of ownership, persistence, drive, and effective communication skills
Experience with Agile management (Scrum), Jira, GitHub Enterprise, and GIT version control

Work from office at least 3 days per week supporting in-person collaboration and community
