  • Partner with service teams to implement effective observability across logs, metrics, traces, alerts, and SLOs, ensuring telemetry is actionable and consistently contextualized.
  • Make engineering tradeoffs around telemetry cardinality, sampling, retention, and cost for scalable, high-signal observability.
  • Define and promote OpenTelemetry-based instrumentation practices, or equivalent distributed tracing and instrumentation experience.
  • Develop and maintain systems and frameworks to improve observability, helping teams monitor health, performance, and reliability of services.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to investigate, triage, and resolve production issues.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience using higher level programming languages such as Go, Rust, Python, Java, Scala, Javascript, Ruby, or PHP.
  • Experience with infrastructure/configuration languages including Terraform/HCL and Helm/YAML.
  • Knowledge of service observability best practices and tools, ideally including OpenTelemetry and Prometheus or comparable telemetry, tracing, and instrumentation platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud technologies like GCP, AWS, and/or Kubernetes.
  • Passion for solving hard problems with innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Experience with configuration and maintenance of applications such as web servers, load balancers, databases, storage systems, orchestration, and/or observability platforms.
  • Experience supporting critical production services.
  • Strong ownership mindset and commitment to high-quality technical work and team collaboration.

Nice to haves
