Applied Researcher - Multi-Agent Systems

Requirements:

• MS/PhD in Computer Science or related area
• 8+ years relevant work experience in Machine Learning / AI / ML Engineering
• Demonstrated experience researching, building, or studying systems where multiple agents interact, exchange information, critique reasoning, and coordinate decisions over time
• Extensive development experience, preferably in a ML/AI technology environment (Python, PyTorch, etc.)
• Experience with cloud services, big data pipelines, and databases in an industrial setting
• Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and industrial recommender systems
• Proven history of research results, demonstrated through publications in top-tier AI/ML/NLP conferences, patents, or deeply technical open-source contributions

What you'll be doing:

• Design & Architect Multi-Agent Ecosystems: Build and evaluate robust, multi-step agentic systems on customer-facing surfaces at eBay
• Collaborate with World-Class Experts: Work with a team of applied researchers and engineers in various fields
• Advance Orchestration Research: Investigate and implement state-of-the-art techniques in agent interaction patterns
• Solve Agentic Scale Challenges: Address unique challenges inherent to multi-agent production systems
• Drive Marketplace Impact: Use datasets to move core marketplace metrics through rigorous A/B testing
