What You'll Be Doing

Build and operate core components of the Serverless Elasticsearch offering using distributed systems expertise.
Enhance Elasticsearch components supporting concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
Maintain cluster coordination to ensure high performance and system safety despite node changes and data movement.
Scale Elasticsearch capabilities in terms of shards, nodes, and petabytes handled.
Investigate and propose solutions for performance and concurrency issues.
Support support engineers with complex problem resolution.
Lead operational investigations end-to-end to resolve performance or stability issues.

Requirements

Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
Strong skills in core Java, including data structures, concurrency constructs, and newer language features.
Technical proficiency in algorithms.
Experience working on complex, highly distributed systems rather than relying on off-the-shelf services.
Ability to build and debug features affecting multiple machines.
Capability to own projects from technical design to collaborative development.
Proven use of AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code while owning final outcomes.
Ability to collaborate across teams and transition between projects, codebases, or teams as needed.
Work autonomously, driving decisions and results in a distributed team with transparent communication.
