Requirements

9+ years experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience maintaining and delivering production software using languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python
Alternatively, relevant degree combined with corresponding years of experience:
- Associate’s Degree + 8+ years experience
- Bachelor's Degree + 7+ years experience
- Master's Degree + 5+ years experience
- Doctorate + 3+ years experience
Proven ability to work autonomously, learn quickly, communicate effectively, and set technical direction

Nice to Haves

Experience building or operating web-scale search, information retrieval, or context retrieval systems
Expertise with systems programming languages, ideally Rust
Experience designing or integrating AI/ML-powered features into production systems
Prior experience solving problems with large-scale, distributed systems

Design, develop, test, and ship scalable, high-quality technical solutions across multiple GitHub services
Provide technical leadership including mentorship, pairing, and code reviews to support team growth and quality standards
Foster an environment of ownership, empowerment, and belonging within the team
Own system health and quality, including participating in on-call rotations and managing live incidents
Write architecture briefs and proposals, conduct experiments, and design APIs for seamless software integration
Maintain operational excellence within and across teams/organizations
Use debugging tools and telemetry to proactively resolve issues and optimize performance and maintainability
Drive and support the technical roadmap aligned with product goals, prioritizing engineering efforts strategically
