Principal Opto-Electronics Device Engineer

Requirements

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong foundation in semiconductor physics
• Demonstrated experience designing high-speed electro-optic devices operating at GHz frequencies
• Proficiency with one or more optical/device simulation packages
• Hands-on experience with optoelectronic device characterization in a lab environment
• Ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Nice to Haves

• Experience with microLEDs, laser or photodetector device design and characterization
• Track record of tape-outs in photonic or optoelectronic foundry processes
• Experience with III-V optoelectronic device fabrication and/or silicon photonics platforms
• Knowledge of optical packaging, co-packaged optics, optical transceiver architectures, or datacenter interconnect requirements
• Experience with driving device concepts from concept to production

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and optimize photonics device structures for high-speed optical communication applications
• Perform optical, electrical, and thermal device simulations using industry-standard tools
• Collaborate with supplier partners and internal teams to execute tape-outs
• Conduct hands-on device characterization in the lab
• Develop and apply equivalent circuit models for electro-optic devices
• Analyze experimental data and drive iterative design improvements
• Serve as a technical expert in optoelectronic device physics
