Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional software development experience
• At least 4 years of people management and performance management experience
• Experience managing large teams or engineering managers
• Proven leadership of engineering teams building, designing, and maintaining large-scale systems
• Track record of delivering operationally solid systems with high engineering excellence
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Strong problem-solving skills, especially in production outage scenarios
• Excellent communication skills
• Curious, collaborative, and motivated mindset

What you'll be doing

• Manage and coach a team of up to 10 motivated engineers
• Contribute to the design, infrastructure, and architecture of high-volume ingestion systems
• Collaborate with product managers, program managers, and engineering teams to specify, prioritize, and deliver new features
• Estimate task complexity, report progress, and identify risks on team projects
• Work with customers and support engineers to resolve issues and participate in on-call rotation
• Improve codebase health, design principles, and best practices alongside team members and Engineering Managers
• Drive monitoring, reliability, and performance best practices for observability services in production
• Participate actively in hiring to grow the team

Nice to haves

• Experience managing multiple engineering managers
• Previous involvement in scaling complex distributed systems supporting billions of metric time series and petabytes of data
• Familiarity with observability systems including metrics, visualization, logs, traces, and alerts
• Experience working in a hybrid work model, preferably based in Dublin
