Distributed Systems Engineer 5 - Cloud Infrastructure Engineering Tooling

Requirements

• 7 or more years of experience designing and building complex, scalable distributed data infrastructure
• Proficiency in at least one of: Java, Go, or C++, with a strong software engineering foundation
• Practical understanding of at least one infrastructure domain — compute, distributed storage, or cloud networking or performance
• Experience owning and delivering high-impact systems end-to-end
• Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems

Nice to Haves

• Motivation to work on infrastructure that other engineers depend on
• Bringing a product mindset to internal tooling
• Comfort with ambiguity and experience shaping problem definitions and solutions
• Experience contributing to or engaging with open source infrastructure communities
• Approaching technical challenges from first principles

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, build, and operate software solutions and tooling for CIE's compute, storage, networking, and performance engineering teams
• Solving real business needs at a large scale by applying software engineering and analytical problem-solving skills
• Building software solutions and tools to improve developer and product experience
• Architecting and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure
• Driving alignment with stakeholders, setting partner expectations, and leading cross-functional initiatives
• Sharing experiences with open source communities and contributing to Netflix OSS
