Manager, Engineering - AI Search Platform

Requirements

• Experience building and operating highly reliable platform systems for large-scale, business-critical use cases
• Strong technical acumen in distributed systems
• Experience building and leading inclusive teams
• Ability to create an environment of open, direct communication
• Strong long-term strategic thinking and platform mindset
• Ability to prioritize strategically and align team investments with business goals
• Rigor in decision making and reducing ambiguity
• Experience working effectively with product managers and TPMs
• Strong partnership and influencing skills across engineering partners and stakeholders
• Track record of helping teams deliver critical priorities reliably
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering

Nice to Have

• Experience building scalable and reliable search, retrieval, or data infrastructure
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, vector and semantic retrieval, or knowledge graphs
• Experience designing platforms for agent-first consumption

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead a team of software engineers to deliver high-impact results
• Collaborate with other teams to align roadmaps and capabilities
• Serve as a technical advisor and raise rigor around impact
• Own operational excellence of a Tier 1 platform with 24x7 on-call responsibilities
• Drive AI-first ways of working and build trusted relationships
• Communicate technical and product ideas clearly and influence decisions
• Balance business needs with engineering principles and lead, hire, coach, and develop a team of engineers
• Foster a culture of accountability and inclusivity within the team
