Requirements

• Collaborative problem-solver skilled at navigating ambiguity and making self-driven decisions
• Focus on building scalable, reliable, high-availability, and low-latency services
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java (preferred), Kotlin, Go, or Python
• Experience designing and building developer-facing APIs, SDKs, and integration patterns
• Familiarity with access control and IAM concepts including identity, authentication, authorization, roles, groups, attributes, and resource models
• Knowledge of authentication protocols like OpenID Connect, OAuth, SAML, and SCIM or strong engineering fundamentals with interest in the domain
• Experience with communication protocols like GraphQL, gRPC, REST
• Strong written communication skills and a product-focused, security-first mindset
• Ability to operate effectively across EMEA and UCAN time zones in an async-first environment

Nice to Haves

• Expertise in designing complex Access Control Models using RBAC, ABAC, or PBAC
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment in cloud platforms
• Familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, or Cassandra
• Experience with Graph databases
• Experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks for full-stack roles

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing, building, and operating access experience services for hundreds of internal engineering teams
• Working on system design, implementation, partner integration, rollout strategy, and maintenance of access tooling and services
• Developing the adoption layer for Turnstile, Netflix's next-generation access management platform
• Building APIs, SDKs, and self-service workflows to enable secure and consistent internal adoption of access control
• Serving as the in-timezone security anchor technical lead, partnering on security architecture decisions
