Requirements

• Penultimate-year student or final-year student planning to pursue a one-year master's course.
• Permanent right to work in the UK (no student visa candidates).
• Available full-time for 12 weeks from June to early September in Cambridge.
• Keen interest in AI technologies with previous experience building AI agents and automated workflows.

Nice to haves

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python, including projects, open source contributions, or hackathon experience beyond coursework.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered or agentic systems performing multi-step work, ideally used by others.
• Familiarity with agentic patterns such as grounding and retrieval, tool use, orchestration, memory, or conversational interfaces.
• Sound engineering judgment: ability to check AI-generated work, understand failure modes, and decide between automation and human review.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, operating systems, or networking concepts.
• Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills with ability to break down ambiguous problems.
• Proactive mindset with passion for continuous learning and fast iteration.

What you'll be doing

• Own a well-defined project contributing to your team’s success from problem definition through delivery.
• Build and test AI agents, copilots, and automated workflows performing meaningful multi-step work.
• Connect agents to trusted data, services, and internal tools, defining agent autonomy and human handover points.
• Evaluate work effectiveness, reliability, and failure modes; improve based on real feedback.
• Use AI coding tools daily to accelerate progress while validating output via testing and review.
• Write clean, well-tested, documented code; participate in code reviews; collaborate with engineers, mentors, and partners.
