What you'll be doing

Take end-to-end ownership of software projects from design to operation
Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable APIs and backend systems for Stripe’s UI
Modernize Stripe’s UI architecture through incremental migrations and controlled rollouts
Improve reliability, observability, performance, and operability of critical user-path services
Collaborate with frontend, backend, and infrastructure engineers to create reusable platform capabilities
Use AI-assisted and agentic development workflows to enhance implementation and delivery
Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, documentation, and runbooks

Requirements

Fluency in AI-assisted and agentic development tools, including critical review and improvement of generated code
2+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems
Strong knowledge of backend technologies: APIs, data storage, distributed systems, and production operations
Ability to independently scope and deliver software projects, balancing technical and product tradeoffs
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and testing skills focused on maintainability, reliability, and user impact
Excellent written and verbal communication for effective collaboration across teams

Experience building backend-for-frontend systems, UI platform services, developer platforms, or shared infrastructure
Experience designing or integrating APIs, including GraphQL
Experience with high-throughput event ingestion, feature flag or experimentation systems, or latency-sensitive platform services
Familiarity with caching, asynchronous systems, configuration systems, or data-consistency tradeoffs
Experience executing large migrations using automated validation, shadow traffic, feature flags, or staged rollouts
Experience using data, developer feedback, or operational signals to improve platforms or developer-facing products
