What you'll be doing

Design, build and maintain high performing, flexible, and scalable Android solutions running on Toast POS hardware in thousands of restaurants
Ship features end-to-end, from design through rollout, monitor success, and iterate based on real-world use
Build great UX using best practices of modern Android development
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders and actively participate in Agile ceremonies
Create products and features that help restaurants deliver a best-in-class guest experience
Partner with team members and other engineers across the company to raise the bar for the Android experience at Toast
Be an awesome teammate committed to collaboration and collective success

Requirements

2-4 years of experience with Android development in Kotlin and/or Java, with hands-on experience shipping production Android apps
Hands on experience with modern Android tooling and frameworks
Excited about AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents (e.g., Claude Code) and interested in pioneering new workflows
Comfortable reading and integrating with backend services (REST/GraphQL) and curious to work across the stack when needed
Comfortable with ambiguity, agile delivery, and shipping usable software incrementally
Passionate about user happiness and seeing people use your product in real-world settings
Strong software development fundamentals including code quality, unit tests, and clean code, open to evolving workflow with AI tooling

Interest or experience working with AI tools and agentic development environments as part of daily engineering workflows
Experience with backend technologies such as Java & Kotlin based backend services, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB
Familiarity with Toast’s hybrid work model and in-office collaboration culture
