Requirements

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java or similar technology stacks.
• Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Product mindset focusing on customer impact beyond technical implementation.
• Strong experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
• Advocacy and practice of best coding standards, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts across teams and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

• Designing, developing, and maintaining the team’s services in a hands-on role.
• Mentoring and supporting a small team of engineers in their growth and development.
• Supporting technical decision-making to build reliable and scalable high quality products.
• Collaborating closely with a Product Manager to own and drive the team’s direction and product plans.
• Working across teams at Wise to create impactful solutions and expand platform functionality for partners.
• Owning the team’s services and products, promoting best practices and quality standards.
