Senior Software Engineer - Search Algorithms - Elasticsearch

Requirements

• Professional experience with search or vector databases, utilizing relevant algorithms and libraries on search platforms at scale
• Solid skills in core Java, including knowledge of data structures, concurrency constructs, and features like lambdas
• Ability to work autonomously, taking on projects and guiding them from start to finish
• Comfortable developing collaboratively, giving and receiving feedback on code and approaches
• Experience with various data storage technologies and understanding of their functionality
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code

Nice to Haves

• Previous experience building with Elasticsearch
• Experience working with open source projects and different source control workflows
• Familiarity with data storage technology
• Experience leading and owning cross-functional initiatives

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to improve search engine speed and relevance
• Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing bugs
• Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers on vector search capabilities
• Be an expert on Elasticsearch search relevance and drive improvements in this area
• Collaborate with community members worldwide on issues and pull requests
• Write idiomatic modern Java for Elasticsearch development
