Staff Software Engineer, Compute Platform

Requirements

• 9+ years experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Experience with large-scale Kubernetes fleet operations

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service
• Experience with platform engineering or infrastructure products
• Experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, CRDs, etc.
• Experience in leading Staff-level technical projects

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes-based platform systems
• Improve reliability, scalability, and operability across GitHub's Kubernetes fleet
• Lead technical work across platform problems
• Partner with service owners and engineering leaders
• Debug and resolve complex production issues
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering bar
• Write, review, test, and maintain reliable platform software
• Participate in on-call and incident response
