Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
5 years of experience in one or more of the following: speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML field specialization.
5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure such as model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine tuning.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
2 years of experience in people management or team leadership.

Nice to Haves

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
Experience with multi-agent systems, agentic workflows, or tool-calling frameworks.
Experience building or maintaining infrastructure for log analytics, execution trajectories, or automated feedback loops.
Experience leading engineering efforts across organizational boundaries in a matrixed environment.
Proven success in productionizing AI/ML or NLP prototypes into scalable developer tools.

Provide technical direction and oversight for AI/Machine Learning initiatives and guide the team in handling ambiguous problems.
Design, guide, and evaluate system designs and ML pipelines while following Google's engineering practices.
Stay current on AI/ML innovation and identify new opportunities or cost-effective solutions.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of Software/ML Engineers with clear expectations, coaching, and career development.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment aligned with Google's values.
Develop project roadmaps, set priorities, and coordinate resources to deliver significant business impact.
Manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, oversee large product budgets, and coordinate large-scale projects internationally.
